In recent years, while China’s social economy has been increasingly developing, chronic kidney diseases happen more often and more people are receiving dialysis treatments. Confronting such challenges, scientists have made great progresses on domestic hemodialysis and nephrology, meanwhile enhancing international cooperation, yet it remains a puzzle that how to ensure a high-quality hemodialysis treatment.

Co-sponsored by the International Society of Hemodialysis (ISHD) and Shanghai Medical Association, co-hosted by the Shanghai Medical Association Nephrology Branch as well as Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, and assisted by International Society of Nephrology, "The Eighth Conference of the International Society of Hemodialysis- The Fourth Oriental Conference of Nephrology (ISHD-OCN 2014) " was held on Sep.12^th -14^th, 2014 at Shanghai International Convention Center. This is a great nephrology event in Shanghai, in China, and so as in the international hemodialysis sector. More than 1,200 experts and scholars from all over the world gathered in Shanghai to discuss the latest progress in hemodialysis, with the topic "how to achieve high-quality hemodialysis treatment"
